OPEN HOUSE SATURDAY JAN. 28TH

Still haven’t checked out Tiny Tots Indoor Playground?  Or are you a member looking for the perfect opportunity to bring a friend?  On Saturday January 28th from 10am – 1pm, Tiny Tots will be hosting another Open House.  It’s the perfect time to check out THE place for parents of kids Newborn-Kindergarten to find safe, warm, indoor play  with the arrival of the cold and rain.  The playground will be open to members that day during our regular operating hours, but from 10-1, it will also be open to the public so they can come, play and check us out.  Come join the fun and find out the benefits of a co-op model where we all share the work, the fun and the opportunity to make new friends.

Missed Orientation but want to join our Co-op

If you missed orientation and would still like to join…please email director@tinytotscoop.org or call 541 343-1413. A appointment will be scheduled for you to tour the co-op with one of our board members.

Sparkplug Dance Is Coming To Tiny Tots

Movement is such an important part of a growing child’s life… from free play like at our playground to movement that allows expression to structured movement like dance and sports.  Sparkplug Dance is a fabulous community resource and, this month, is a special benefit for Tiny Tots members!

On Saturday January 14th Sparkplug Dance will be giving a free dance class to Tiny Tots members beginning at 10:00 am.  Sparkplug will introduce our kids (and us parents) to some warm up dance, concept dances, some great props and a folk dance or two.  Sparkplug’s mission is to help “communities to unite in their vision and vigor to build the arts and physical activity into every child’s education.”  They offer classes on movement and dance starting with newborns through school-age children and now they are bringing their expertise to us.

Members, make sure to join us and Sparkplug for some dance and if you’re not a member yet… hurry up and join so you can dance with us!  Visit Sparkplug’s website at http://sparkplugdance.org/ and join us on September 14th.

Let’s Get Playing!!!

Happy 2012 from Tiny Tots and welcome to Winter Term!  There’s a lot to look forward to this term including a sample dance class from Sparkplug Dance, a Police/Safety visit and another Open House!

Interested Future Members:    we’ve had more members joining, but still have room on our roster, so if you haven’t joined yet contact Tiny Tots at either board@tinytotscoop.org or by calling 541-343-1413.  We can schedule a tour to show you our playground and the joining fee for the remainder of the year (from now until June) is only $64!  This grants you full access 6 days a week to a safe, dry, warm place to play and a community of parents and children to get to know.

Members:  Our community is growing and you just never who might be your or your child’s next best friend.  Many long-time friends have met through Tiny Tots.  So when you are on the playground, make sure to make the friendly effort of introducing yourself to those playing with you.  Get to know our members and their kids and keep the lines of communication open… for future playdates, friendship opportunities or even to address any behavior and or parenting differences in a healthy way that can only strengthen our community!

Also, if you are looking for more community resources for activities, classes, etc. for your children, this year we have a “Community Resources” part of our bulletin boards.  There you will find flyers and pamphlets about everything from Martial Arts to Gymnastics, Financial Advice and more.  If you have a resource that would help your fellow co-op members, please contact Board member Mariska Plavin (Marketing Director) and we’ll get your information posted.

Happy New Year everyone and GET PLAYING!!

Come See The Fire Trucks With Tiny Tots!

If you missed the first chance to visit a Fire Station, here’s another opportunity!  On Friday, December 2nd at 10:30 a.m., Tiny Tots members have been invited to visit Station 15 (South Hills Station).  In the approximately 30 minute visit, you can tour the living quarters, see the trucks and be treated to a demonstration of the fire fighters’ protective equipment. The tour is limited to 25 members (including babies), so either respond to the E-vite sent by Tiny Tots Member Janet Hammond or contact the Board and we’ll arrange to have you included.  The visit last month was fun and educational for our tots and families… so take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the Fire Trucks!  Thank you to member Janet Hammond for organizing our tours.

Tiny Tots Sees The Fire Trucks

On Friday November 4th, Tiny Tots families had the opportunity to take a tour of Station 6 (Sheldon Fire Station) and our tots (and parents!) had a blast.  They got to climb on the ladder truck, walk through the ambulance and watch as  fire fighter Craig completely suited up in his gear, mask, oxygen tank and helmet.  It was a great lesson as he talked them through all the equipment and showed them that, despite what he might look like in all that gear, they have no need to fear a fire fighter if one ever comes for them in an emergency.  The kids had fun tapping on his mask and touching his jacket.  They talked to our tots about what to do in a fire and the importance of staying low and staying visible to the fire fighters if they aren’t able to get out of their homes.  It was incredibly fun and informative for our tots.  Thank you Station 6!!

And don’t worry if you missed this opportunity, another one is coming in early December.  So members watch your Yahoo Groups emails and this site for more information.
