Spring Carnival Update

Saturday May 12th from 11am-1pm, join Tiny Tots for our biggest event of the year:  our SPRING CARNIVAL!  This year’s carnival features a dance class and demo from All That! Dance Company, a Toy Walk game, spring crafts for the kiddos to take home, balloon animals, door prizes that parents and whole families can enjoy.  Weather permitting, we will even take advantage of some outside space for some more active games. Also, this is the time to receive a break on our membership fees for next year!  Remember we are open during the school year, 6 days a week with the kinds of hours that allow for all-day play.  Come check it ou and join the fun!

Messy Play as a Development tool… by a trusted community resource

Tiny Tots members, as you know we’re trying this year to also keep you up-to-date on other fun activities for you and your family through our community board and work with other community programs.  Here’s one you should check out!  http://birthto3.org/parents/groups/Squishtivities

Playing is learning! At Squishtivities®, you and your 2-1/2- to 5-year-old child will experience adventures through games, arts and crafts, music and ‘messy’ play.

With your involvement and the guidance of a professional parent educator, your child will explore:

• Cause and effect

• Gross and fine motor skills

• Cognitive skills

• Creative expression

Then, you can duplicate these activities at home.

Squishtivities® meets weekly. The new group begins Sat., May 5, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and continues for 3 weeks. A fee is charged for this program.

To enroll or for more information, call 541-485-5211 (toll-free in Lane County: 1-888-485-5211), Mon-Thurs 9 am-noon, or send us an e-mail.

Spring Has Sprung!

Happy Spring Break!  We’ve got one more term left before we take a break for summer, so let’s make it count!  We’ve got some great activities coming up this term, so don’t miss out!  We’ll be “cooking” up a good time, trying to teach our kids some important lessons, planning our Carnival and getting next year’s Board established so we can have a smooth and successful transition to next year.

On Saturday May 12th will be our Spring Carnival.  This is always Tiny Tot’s biggest event!  It’s not only for members, but for those interested in joining for next year.  Members here’s your chance to volunteer or we’d love to hear your input on some fun ideas for our Carnival.  Let’s make it a great send-off into Summer!

Did you know kids are usually less picky about eating when they get to help in the kitchen?  Our Board Member Amy Van Dyke would like to offer a kids “cooking” class this term.  Look for more information to come on dates and times.  Let’s cook up some fun!

Also, now is the time to start establishing next year’s Board.  Have some terrific ideas you think could make Tiny Tots even better?  We welcome excited, enthusiastic members who understand that it takes the commitment of all in the co-op to make it a success.  Board Members pay no dues and are not responsible for Open/Close/Toy Cleaning duties except on a fill-in basis, so your commitment is to coordinating the fun activities, membership cooperation, PR and behind-the-scenes work required to keep Tiny Tots part of our community.  Please contact the current board at board@tinytotscoop.org if you are interested.  Even new members can be on the Board!  We hope to establish the new Board early to allow plenty of cooperation between the out-going and in-coming board for the smoothest transition possible.

Finally, our Director Monica is hoping to get EPD to give Tiny Tots families an important lesson about “Stranger Danger”.  Keep your eyes and ears out for future announcment about this very important topic.

Sparkplug Dance Is Coming To Tiny Tots

Movement is such an important part of a growing child’s life… from free play like at our playground to movement that allows expression to structured movement like dance and sports.  Sparkplug Dance is a fabulous community resource and, this month, is a special benefit for Tiny Tots members!

On Saturday January 14th Sparkplug Dance will be giving a free dance class to Tiny Tots members beginning at 10:00 am.  Sparkplug will introduce our kids (and us parents) to some warm up dance, concept dances, some great props and a folk dance or two.  Sparkplug’s mission is to help “communities to unite in their vision and vigor to build the arts and physical activity into every child’s education.”  They offer classes on movement and dance starting with newborns through school-age children and now they are bringing their expertise to us.

Members, make sure to join us and Sparkplug for some dance and if you’re not a member yet… hurry up and join so you can dance with us!  Visit Sparkplug’s website at http://sparkplugdance.org/ and join us on September 14th.

OPEN HOUSE SATURDAY JAN. 28TH

Still haven’t checked out Tiny Tots Indoor Playground?  Or are you a member looking for the perfect opportunity to bring a friend?  On Saturday January 28th from 10am – 1pm, Tiny Tots will be hosting another Open House.  It’s the perfect time to check out THE place for parents of kids Newborn-Kindergarten to find safe, warm, indoor play  with the arrival of the cold and rain.  The playground will be open to members that day during our regular operating hours, but from 10-1, it will also be open to the public so they can come, play and check us out.  Come join the fun and find out the benefits of a co-op model where we all share the work, the fun and the opportunity to make new friends.
